Mobility

In La Mosquitia, distances are long and the roads are rough. For many children, getting to school or to the nearest clinic means walking for hours, often in heat or heavy rain.
The bicycle project puts bicycles in the hands of children and families across the communities. A walk that used to take an hour becomes a short ride. Children arrive at school on time and with energy to learn, and families can reach the clinic, the market and neighbouring villages far more easily.
Each bicycle is matched to the people who need it most, and the project is run together with the communities so that maintenance and spare parts stay local.
